Professional Tour Guide Since 2015

Ellen is an Unapologetically Old-School and Unabashed History Nerd.

Ellen is an unabashed history nerd. Rather than rattle off easily forgotten dates, she tells the stories of the people behind the events. Why did George Washington come to Boston so often? How did the Boston Massacre really start? Did she major in history while at Boston University? No! She majored in Communications, which might explain her engaging, energetic style of storytelling. Having raised two awesome children, she is able to adapt her presentations if her audience includes younger travelers. Ellen consistently receives outstanding reviews from those who take her tours. They often include comments on Ellen’s thoughtfulness and adaptability.

Ellen loves traveling and visits fascinating locations. In addition to her study abroad in England and trips to Europe, she has been to India, Thailand, Vietnam, Peru (Machu Picchu, of course!), and Iceland (a few times). She loves to make visitors to Boston leave wanting to come back. While not born in Boston, she is a passionate longtime resident and loves the city and knows it better than many who were born here and have “the accent.”

Ellen has been a tour guide in Boston since 2015. She has volunteered with Boston by Foot, Nichols House Museum, and worked at the historic Trinity Church. Ellen has also worked with cruise ships as a local Boston guide and with Context Travel and Airbnb Experiences.

Ellen has been an English as a Second language volunteer teacher for decades, a Girl Scout leader and leader trainer, and volunteered at Common Art - an art center for the unhoused of Boston.
